CINDOR, Portugal's premier jewelry and watchmaking training institution, has opened a new training center for specialized jewelry training in the heart of Porto. It is from Porto that it will open up to the world.
Because, frankly, the world has never been so Portuguese.
And never have Portuguese jewelry—and filigree—been so closely connected to the world!
"Viana – The Legend of Golden Hearts" is the title of a Portuguese 3D animated film, previewed in October 2025 at the Sá de Miranda Municipal Theatre in Viana do Castelo.
The film's creators were inspired by the legend of the northern Portuguese town of Viana do Castelo.
The legend goes that a young boatman, transporting goods along the Lima River, fell in love with a cheerful girl named Ana, who lived in a castle above the river. Every time the young man loaded and unloaded his boat, his eyes never left Ana. Knowing of his love, everyone who passed by asked the young boatman if he had seen his beautiful woman that day. The young man replied, "Yes, I saw Ana from the castle," which in Portuguese is "Sim, Vi a Ana do Castelo." This repeated phrase eventually gave the city its name: Viana do Castelo.
From this legend, the art of filigree gave birth to the famous jewelry "Hearts of Viana" – a symbol of Portuguese culture and history.
A new tourist area has opened on Rua das Flores in Porto, transforming the street into a vibrant stage where Portuguese culture is on display in all its glory.
The restored buildings located on Rua das Flores, between numbers 66 and 82, now house four iconic Portuguese brands, without which it's impossible to imagine Portugal, its culture, and history.
The building, entirely dedicated to jewelry and filigree, houses workshops where curious visitors can observe the artisans at work.
Work is underway on a three-story spiral staircase adorned with gold filigree.
