On January 20, 1984, the then president of AORP, Eloi Viana — an unavoidable figure in the history of CINDOR, later Chairman of the Board of Directors, today a major name in our Auditorium — mentioned, in the report “Gold in Portugal – Part I”:
“We have difficulty with manpower because there are no schools (…) Moreover, the Association is very interested. We are trying to set up a school in Gondomar and another in Porto. That would make things much easier.”
In December of that same year, 1984, AORP Associação Ourivesaria and IEFP - Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional, I.P. signed the protocol that would give rise to the creation of CINDOR, in Gondomar.
Forty years later, the vision becomes legacy, root, present and future: CINDOR opens its doors to specialized training in the city of Porto — right in its heart — bringing with it the nobility of metals, the light of gems, the art, the technique and the magic of creation. A space where knowledge, tradition, innovation, and timelessness meet.
The best institution for teaching and training in goldsmithing, jewelry, and watchmaking in the country has arrived in Porto. And from Porto, it will open up to the world.
Because, in truth, the world has never been so Portuguese.
And never has Portuguese jewelry—and filigree—been so much a part of the world!
