Filigree from Gondomar - an ancient jewellery technique originating in this municipality in the district of Porto - as of 7 September 2023 is included in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage, as a result of the application submitted by Gondomar Town Council.
How proud we are to see this ancient art recognised and now included in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage, as a result of the application submitted by Gondomar Town Council.
An ode to the masters, enchedeiras, artisans and all those who perpetuate this ancient jewellery technique:
"Twelve of these workshops are on the "Filigrana de Portugal" National Brand certification list and seven are on the Filigrana Route, an initiative of the municipality that has contributed greatly to the dissemination of this tradition, along with structures such as the Municipal Filigrana Museum and the Professional Training Centre for the Goldsmithing and Watchmaking Industry (CINDOR)."
