So, Francisco Eloi Gomes Viana was born in Gondomar on March 16, 1933. After receiving his education, he founded a family jewelry business. But he did not limit himself to developing his own business. All his life Francisco Viana fought for the recognition of jewelry and gold art and the profession of a jeweler.
Sr. Francisco Eloi Gomes Viana was the President of the General Council and the Board of Directors of the Association of Jewelers and Watchmakers of the North of Portugal (AIORN).
Thanks to his active work, CINDOR - the Center for Professional Training of Jewelers and Watchmakers - was opened in 1984 in Gondomar. For 25 years, Francisco Eloi Gomes Viana has been a member of the Board of Directors of CINDOR.
Portugal's first course for jewelery designers, led by the Glasgow School of Design, has opened in Gondomar.

Thanks to his enormous contribution and dedication to the unification and development of the industry, he was honored to give his name to the Elói Viana National Goldsmiths' Prize, established in 2018 by the Municipality of Gondomar, the National Press - Casa da Moeda and the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs, and was awarded an honorary medal of the gold degree.
