A merchant in the US bought a gold item

In the United States, a dealer who buys old jewelry for melting down bought a gold object for $500.

This curious story occurred in 2014.

The dealer intended to melt down his acquisition, but upon closer inspection, this curious object turned out to be the long-lost third Imperial Fabergé Easter Egg—an Easter gift from Tsar Alexander III in 1887 to his wife, Tsarina Maria Feodorovna.

The egg sits on an intricate gold stand supported by lion's paws, with three sapphires on gold garlands and a Vacheron Constantin watch inside.

The egg was sold at auction for $33 million to an anonymous buyer.
