The filigree route - Rota da Filigrana - was developed in the city of Gondomar. The route passes through jewelry workshops, where you can see with your own eyes how a work of jewelry art is born.
The tour begins with a visit to the Filigree Museum at Casa Branca de Gramido in Gondomar. Museum visitors get acquainted with the history of filigree. In the museum's exhibition you can see the world's largest filigree heart, on which Gondomar jewelers worked together. The museum houses a collection of 60 unique and inimitable filigree items.
The route then takes visitors from the banks of the beautiful Douro River deep into the city of Gondomar to jewelery workshops. In the workshop you can see with your own eyes the process of creating jewelry. You can hold gold or silver balls in your hands and watch how they are rolled into the finest wire, from which the master then creates a pattern for the future decoration.
Viewers are immersed in the history of filigree. Sometimes the master trusts someone to perform a simple operation. At the end of the tour, you can purchase the master's work.
