The cocktail ring got its name during the Prohibition in the United States from 1920 to 1933. During the Prohibition, illegal bars appeared where you could drink contraband alcohol. Alcohol was disguised by mixing cocktails. Such parties were called "cocktail parties".

To order a cocktail, you had to give the bartender a secret sign - raise your right hand, on which a huge ring sparkled. The ring had to be noticeable enough even from afar. So a large shiny ring on the right hand was called a "cocktail ring".

The participants of cocktail parties were women from high society, who dictated fashion. There is no doubt that cocktail rings quickly became a fashion accessory. In the 50s and 60s, they were worn to go out, to a restaurant, to the theater, to a party.

In the 1960s, the popularity of this style began to wane due to the change of styles. However, spectacular rings came back into fashion in the 1980s, became even larger and more flashy. And since then, they have not gone out of fashion.

Women wear cocktail rings on their right hand, demonstrating their independence. The left hand is for a wedding ring, for a gift from a man. The right hand is a symbol of self-expression.
