Portuguese filigree survived the global crisis when the jewellery industry was in decline. In those difficult times, the number of orders decreased so much that many craftsmen had to leave the industry.

Only passion can explain how the filigree technique has survived in the municipality of Gondomar since the 18th century and continues to be one of the driving sectors of the local economy.

The difficult period is now behind us. Portuguese filigree is growing in popularity. There are more and more connoisseurs of this art.
The industry is lacking specialists.

CINDOR, a vocational training centre for the jewellery and watch industry, was established on 26 December 1984 in the city of Gondomar.

Young people came into the jewellery business. With passion and dedication, CINDOR students take their first steps in this art.
At CINDOR, students acquire not only technical skills but also creativity. Design, innovation and entrepreneurship in various fields: jewellery, watchmaking, design, CAD, information technology, photography, multimedia. Entrepreneurship and innovation, tourism, management and marketing, commerce, foreign languages, health, hygiene and occupational safety.

CINDOR strives to remain at the forefront, where the present updates the past and traditions are reinvented and recreated, in a dynamic that connects people with the labour market.

Student life is full of interesting events. Competitions and exhibitions, various international and national programmes, including Erasmus, festivals, and other events.
